Formula
Uses the 2017 AHA/ACC categories: Normal <120 and <80; Elevated 120–129 and <80; Stage 1 for 130–139 or 80–89; Stage 2 for ≥140 or ≥90; crisis at ≥180 or ≥120. When systolic and diastolic fall in different categories, the higher one applies. Pulse pressure = systolic − diastolic, and MAP = diastolic + pulse pressure / 3.
